My Vacations

Hi! Here’s my cruise journal. I’ll upload photos and videos, too!

OK… Here’s Day one…. Sorry I haven’t been able to update this page! I don’t seem to have enough time…

The voyage aboard the Monarch of The Seas….

Day one:

We finally finished driving and arrived at Port Canaveral, Florida. We boarded the ship at 3:00 PM. That’s pretty late, considering the ship will stop letting people board at 4:00.

The ship is a bit smaller compared to the last cruise ship I went on, Jewel of The Seas. The rooms were really small, but it doesn’t matter.

Last cruise, I didn’t participate in any of the teen activities, so this time, I want to participate in some. There was a teen “Mix and Mingle” at 8PM.

As the ship set sail, I got seasick. As my family and I was eating dinner at the Windjammer Cafe, I was so dizzy I had no appetite. By the way, the Windjammer Cafe is a buffet. There was another dining room, where waiters serve you, but from my experience on the Jewel of The Seas, I know it takes too long (2 hours) so I figured it would be quicker to eat at the buffet instead.

I missed the “Mix and Mingle” because I went to bed early.

Next stop: CocoCay, Bahamas!

Day 2 …. CocoCay, Bahamas

Hi guys! We arrived in CocoCay today. We woke up late, but that might’ve been a good thing, because we didn’t make it in time on a tender to go onto CocoCay. Let me clarify for a moment… A tender is like a small ferry that carries the passengers onto land. They have to back up to the ship, and there’s a tiny gangplant where you can get onto the tender. We only use tenders when there is no dock. Anyway, there was a long line for the tenders, but then the Captain started saying something,”There is an increase in swells and wind…the tenders are having trouble getting close to the ship…might have to suspend trip, because safety is our #1 priority…” To make a long story short, they cancelled the trip because the winds and waves were very rough.

We went up to the Viking Lounge, the highest place on the ship, and we watched the tenders attempt to get close to the ship and unload the passengers coming back from CocoCay. It took a LONG time. It was kinda sad, watching everyone bob up and down. I would’ve gotten seasick! Finally, the tenders successfully backed up to the ship and unloaded the passengers.Guess what happened afterwards? The weather cleared up! But we still didn’t go onto CocoCay because they already cancelled the trip. Grr!

Most of the teen activities were on land, so I didn’t miss too much. There was this Digital Photo Hunt on the ship at 5. I went to the Fuel and guess what? They had a new schedule of activities due to the CocoCay incident! The Photo Hunt was switched to 2 PM! 😦 *sigh* Another day where I didn’t do any activities…-_-…

We watched the featured entertainment for the night, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” featuring the Royal Caribbean singers and dancers. They really need to get better speakers! We went to the Family Karaoke after the show, and the cruise director (Chris) and Jorge sang a song. It was really, really, scary, so we left.

We had Indian food at the buffet today. It was SOO good! Mom loved the curried lambs!

Next stop: Nassau, Bahamas!
